چکیده

Conflict resolution has always been a sensitive matter in air-traffic management. Current European projects aim partial or total automation of air traffic control to deal with the constant growth of air traffic. Technological advances on flight management system allows us to consider an automatic conflict resolution using continuous trajectories. In this paper, we present a new methodology that, first, relies on B-splines to model trajectories, secondly models air-traffic conflict resolution as an optimization problem whose decision variables are the spline control points. Finally, we use genetic algorithms to tackle this optimization problem in order to generate optimal conflict-free situations.

Cultural Algorithms for Air Traffic Conflict Resolution Problem

Abstract— The air traffic conflict resolution represents a real time problem. Thus, it must be interesting to apply methods which their computing time is negligible. In this study, we use cultural algorithms to solve an artificial conflict involving five aircrafts. These algorithms present the advantage to evolve 10 times faster than genetic algorithms. We assume that the trajectories of all ai...

A Testing Method for Multi-UAV Conflict Resolution Using Agent-Based Simulation and Multi-Objective Search

We present a new approach to testing multi-UAV conflict resolution algorithms. We have formulated the problem as a multi-objective search problem, with two objectives: finding air traffic encounters that (1) are able to reveal faults in conflict resolution algorithms, and (2) are likely to happen in the real world. Our method uses agent-based simulation and multiobjective search to automaticall...

Optimizing Air Traffic Conflict and Congestion Using Genetic Algorithm

The problem of air traffic congestion isn’t unique to developing countries like Unites States, Russia and China. How to accommodate an ever increasing flights is a global problem and a potentially dangerous one. The projections of aircrafts in the air have tremendously increased and is expected to lead to major accidents by 2015. The aircrafts have limitations of geography and limited reach of ...

Algorithmes Génétiques et autres méthodes d'optimisation appliqués à la gestion de trafic aérien

This document discribes different optimization methods applied to the air traffic management domain. The first part details genetic algorithms and introduces a crossover operator adapted to partially separated problems. The operator is tested on an airport ground traffic optimization problem. In the second part, the conflict resolution problem is optimized with different (centralized or autonom...

Air Traffic Control with an Expected Value Criterion

In this contribution we discuss a stochastic framework for air traffic conflict resolution. The conflict resolution task is posed as the problem of optimizing an expected value criterion. Optimization is carried out by Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) simulation. A numerical example illustrates the proposed strategy. Copyright c © 2005 IFAC
